Ann’s note: I found this podcast through the recommendation of a friend. The women leading this podcast are each uniquely connected to Christ. Their shares and faithful ideas are profound. I find their topics are relevant and engaging. This podcast just started a new season – January 2023.

Bible in a Year with Father Mike Schmitz
Description: In The Bible in a Year podcast, Fr. Mike Schmitz guides you through the entire Bible in 365 episodes. Using an exclusive reading plan rooted in The Bible Timeline (a ground-breaking approach to understanding salvation history developed by Biblical scholar Jeff Cavins) you won’t just read the Bible … you’ll finally understand how all the pieces fit together to tell an amazing story that continues in your life today!

Ann’s note: I have a Bible that has little explanations throughout the margins. This podcast turns the verses to life through Father Mike’s explanations more than I could gleam from the margins of that Bible. Following Jeff Cavin’s timeline is also very helpful in learning the Lord’s Word in a timeline order. Excellent to experience while doing laundry! 🙂

Bible Study Evangelista Show
Description: I have a Bible and a healing charism, and I’m not afraid to use ’em. Catholic Bible study series. biblestudyevangelista.com.

Ann’s note: Through a women’s retreat, I was blessed to learn from Sonja as the keynote speaker. Her books are thoughtful and entertaining. If you are not a big reader and are looking for guidance in your daily prayer, I recommend Sonja’s books. Her podcast is a great supplement to the books. Especially her most recent, Just Rest.

Do Something Beautiful
Description: People are good. You might not think that if you listen to traditional news, but that’s a lie. Everyday heroes and saints live among us and my goal is to introduce them to you.We are inspired by the words of Mother Teresa, “Do something beautiful for God. Do it with your life. Do it every day. Do it in your own way. But do it!” Leah Darrow, former model and contestant on America’s Next Top Model, draws on her experience in the beauty industry to expose the lies we are told about our worth being tied to our appearance and instead invites us to look again at the real meaning of beauty in service to mankind.

Draw Near
Description: “Jesus himself drew near.” (Lk 24:15) God takes the initiative to Draw Near to you out of a deep and personal love for you. This movement asks each of us for a response. There are so many beautiful ways we can respond to the workings of Christ in our lives. Draw Near will discuss many personal, theological, and spiritual topics pertaining to Christ’s Church.

Ann’s note: Fred and Kara discuss topics which help explain my general curiosities regarding the Catholic faith. This is a great podcast for youth groups and high school students, but do not discount it when considering podcasts as an adult.

So get your geek on, pull up a bar stool, and grab a cold one. Here we go!

Restore the Glory

Ann’s note: I happened upon this podcast after learning about it from the Abiding Together podcast. There is a calmness and reverence that lives within these episodes. It feels like the Holy Spirit is present in guiding the words of Bob and Jake through challenging topics. I’m challenged to think deeper and draw closer to what God is calling me to understand about healing my soul and His will for me.

Here you’ll find real conversations about relationships, family life, struggles, and most importantly, navigating your faith as an adult. Ann’s note: This podcast consists of raw and very vulnerable faith sharing from two young women who are wives and mother’s, growing in their respective marriages, whose beautiful faithful experiences are revealed to the listener. Tori and Mary research answers to their own questions regarding faith and living lives following Christ. A wonderful podcast for young women.

The Art of Catholic with Matthew Leonard
Description: Join internationally-known Catholic evangelist and filmmaker Matthew Leonard for joyful, passionate (and often humorous) explanations of the deep truths of the faith, as well as interesting interviews with Catholic luminaries. This is the art of living. This is the Art of Catholic. MatthewSLeonard.com

Ann’s note: I found this podcast because Matthew Leonard was to speak at an event that ended up being canceled during COVID. Upon learning that he had a podcast, I took a listen. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made at a podcast selection. If you are looking for a deep, theological discussion which is relatable and understandable, this podcast is for you. I have found books and resources beyond measure from the guests and topics brought up in his monthly episodes.

The Gathering Place (Blessed is She)

To Grow Good
Description: A Podcast of Conversion Stories. Sharing Encounters With the Living God. Hosted by Rachel Smith. Welcome, friend! Here, we share stories of conversion and encounter with the living God. God is real. He’s alive. And He wants to meet you, too.

Ann’s note: Rachel has created this podcast and YouTube channel through listening to the Holy Spirit’s calling for her ministry. There is always truth and remarkable insight to be gained from these episodes. I recommend for teen through adult. Some episodes do include difficult and triggering challenges through suffering, however Rachel always gives a warning at the start of those episodes.

Description: Join Bishop Robert Barron for a weekly podcast on faith and culture. Find more episodes at http://WordOnFireShow.com and submit your questions at http://AskBishopBarron.com.

Ann’s note: I enjoy the insights from Bishop Barron. Every episode gives me something new to consider or think about. Especially his conversations with people who are studying the Catholic faith and working to learn the truths of the Catholic faith or who question the faith. The Q&A’s from listeners are also helpful by giving me answers to hold in my pocket for when people ask me about Catholicism in my day to day.
